  • (Auschwitz, Poland 1942)
  • (Nazis are herding Jews)
  • (they begin separating children from their parents)
  • (including Eric)
  • Eric's Mom: (Shouting in German)
  • Young Eric: Mama! (Screaming) Mama! (Screaming) (Screaming, grunting) (Grunting) (Yelling)
  • (as he yells, noises are heard from the gate, and it starts moving on its own and bending forward, as if Eric is calling to it)
  • (a soldier knocks Eric out with the butt of his gun, while a man watches from inside)
  • Young Charles: Mother. What are you... I thought you were a burglar.
  • Charles' Mom: I didn't mean to scare you, darling. I was just getting a snack. Go back to bed.
  • [Charles goes quiet and stares at his mother]
  • Charles' Mom: What's the matter? Go on, back to bed.
  • [Charles remains silent]
  • Charles' Mom: I'll make you a hot chocolate.
  • (Charles looks at a picture of him and his mom)
  • Young Charles: Who are you? And what have you done with my mother? (Echoing) [using his power to speak into Mrs. Xavier's mind] My mother has never set foot in this kitchen in her life. And she certainly never made me hot chocolate, unless you count ordering the maid to do it. (Chuckles softy)
  • [suddenly Charles's mother shifts shape and becomes a young Raven]
  • Young Raven: You're not scared of me?
  • Young Charles: I always believed I couldn't be the only one in the world. The only person who was... different. And here you are. Charles Xavier.
  • Young Raven: Raven.
  • Young Charles: You're hungry and alone. Take whatever you want. We've got lots of food. You don't have to steal. In fact, you never have to steal again.
  • Young Raven: (Chuckles softy)
  • [At a Nazi concentration camp in Poland]
  • [Shaw addresses young Erik in German in his office in a concentration camp]
  • Shaw: Understand this, Erik... These Nazis, I'm not like them. Genes are the key, yes? But their goals? Blue eyes? Blonde hair? Pathetic.
  • [he gives him a chocolate bar]
  • Shaw: Eat the chocolate. It's good. Want some?
  • Young Erik: I want to see my mama.
  • [Shaw addresses young Erik in German in his office in a concentration camp]
  • Shaw: Genes are the key that unlocks the door to a new age, Erik. A new future for mankind. Evolution. You know what I'm talking about? It's a simple thing I ask of you. [gestures to a small Nazi coin on the desk] A little coin is nothing compared to a big gate. Is it?
  • [Erik attempts to move the coin but fails]
  • [Erik tries to move the coin on the desk with his powers but fails]
  • Young Erik: (Grunting) (Sighs, Panting) I tried, Herr Doctor. I can't... I don't... It's impossible. (Sighs)
  • Shaw: The one thing I can say for the Nazis is their thehods seem to produce results. (Clicking tongue) I'm sorry, Erik.
  • Young Erik: Mama!
  • Erik's Mom: My darling. How are you? Nein!
  • [Erik's mother has been been brought to Shaw's office]
  • Shaw: [he gestures to the soldiers to hold her back] Here's what we're going to do. I'm going to count to three...
  • [he opens a drawer and pulls out a gun]
  • Shaw: ...and you're going to move the coin. You don't move the coin, I pull the trigger.
  • [Shaw points a gun at Erik's mother] [he points the gun at his mother]
  • Shaw: Understand?
  • [Erik attempts to move it again without success with a sense of urgency]
  • Shaw: One.
  • Young Erik: [he looks to his mother] Mama...
  • Erik's Mom: You can do it.
  • Shaw: Two.
  • [he grows impatient]
  • [Erik looks at his mother]
  • Erik's Mom: Everything is alright.
  • [Erik concentrates even harder]
  • Young Erik: (Grunts)
  • Erik's Mom: Alles ist gut. Alles ist gut.
  • [Erik keeps trying to move the coin but fails]
  • Shaw: Three.
  • [he shoots and kills Erik's mother; trauma angers Erik to crush a small metal bell]
  • Shaw: Yes. Wonderful.
  • [sees Erik crush a metal filing cabinet]
  • Shaw: Excellent.
  • [Erik loses control and crushes the soldiers' helmets on their heads before sending all metal objects across the room. Schmidt consoles him after he crises]
  • [after his mother is killed a grief stricken Erik shows the full extense of his powers]
  • Shaw: Outstanding, Erik. So we unlock your gift with anger. Anger and pain. You and me... we're going to have a lot of fun together.
  • [he leaves the Nazi coin in Erik's hand and he leaves]
  • [the Title Sequence appears and then we see a grown up Eric moving the same coin magnetically through his fingers. he looks at Shaw's picture and magnetically throws the coin at its head, signifying he hasn't forgiven him]
  • [looking at a beautiful woman in a bar]
  • Charles: Heterochromia.
  • Amy: A gentlemen would at least offer to buy me a drink first.
  • [Charles turns to the barman]
  • Charles: (Chuckles) Norman, pint of bitter for me and brandy for the lady, please.
  • Amy: How did you know that?
  • Charles: Lucky guess. Name's Xavier. Charles Xavier. How do you do?
  • Amy: Amy.
  • Charles: Heterochromica was in reference to your eyes, which I have to say are stunning. One green, one blue. It's a mutation. It's a very groovy mutation. I've got news for you, Amy. You are a mutant.
  • Amy: First you proposition a girl, and then you call her deformed. How is that seduction technique working for you?
  • Charles: I'll tell you in the morning.
  • [Amy smiles and Charles laughs]
  • Charles: No, no, seriously, though, you mustn't knock it. Mutation took us from single-celled organisms to being the dominant form of reproductive life of this planet, Infinite forms of variation with each generation, all through mutation.
  • Amy: Then, let's reclaim that word. Mutant and proud.
  • Charles: Chin-chin. Hey.
  • [Raven, who was watching and listening, walks over and is clearly jealous]
  • Raven: Hi. Guess I have to buy my own drink.
  • Charles: I'm sorry. One cola.
  • Amy: [to Raven] Charles here was just tell me that I'm like one of the first sea creatures that grew legs.
  • Charles: Tiny bit sexier.
  • Amy: (Chuckles)
  • Charles: I'm sorry. This is my sister Raven.
  • Raven: Hi.
  • Amy: Amy. And what do you study?
  • Raven: Waitressing.
  • Amy: Ah.
  • [Raven turns one of her eyes to their natural yellow color]
  • Amy: Oh, look, you have heterochromia, too.
  • Charles: Sorry. What?
  • Amy: look at her eye.
  • [he looks at Raven and notices what she's done]
  • Charles: (Clears throat) [annoyed] Right. Raven, get your coat, please. Don't talk me. You did on purpose.
  • Raven: I did not.
  • Charles: Yes you did.
  • Raven: Why would I do it on purpose? You know I can't control it sometimes, if I'm stressed or I'm tired.
  • Charles: You seem to be doing a perfectly good job right now.
  • Raven (Imitating Amy): "Mutant and proud."
  • Charles: What?
  • Raven: Or is that only with pretty mutations or invisible ones, like yours. But if you're a freak, better hide.
  • Charles: You're being ridiculous. Look, look, I don't mean to sound like an old fart.
  • Raven: Which you are.
  • Charles: Sometimes. But we've talked about this, Raven. A small slipup is one thing. A big one does not beer thinking about.
  • Raven: [to herself] Mutant and proud. Mutant and proud? (Spits) If only. Would you date me?
  • Charles: Of course I would. Any young would be lucky to have you. You are stunning.
  • Raven: Looking like this?
  • Charles: Like... What? Blue? You're my oldest friend.
  • Raven: I'm your only friend.
  • Charles: Thank you for that.
  • Raven: Well?
  • Charles: I'm incapable of thinking of you that way. You're... I feel responsible for you. Anything else would just feel wrong.
  • Raven: But what if you didn't know me?
  • Charles: Unfortunately, I do know you. God, I don't know what's gotten into you lately. You're awfully concerned with your looks.
  • Raven: I'm sleepy. Will you read to me?
  • Charles: Can't. I have my thesis coming up. I have to study.
  • Raven: Well, fine. Read that. Your thesis always sends me right off.
  • Charles: "Homo neanderthalensis, his mutant cousin, Homo sapien," was an aberration. "Peaceful cohabtation, if ever it existed, was short-lived. "Records show without execption that the arrival of mutated human species in any region was followed by the immediate extinction of theor less evolved kin..."
  • Nazi Guy: Possession of that gold is illegal. I should inform the police.
  • Erik: Let's not play this game.
  • Nazi Guy: Where did you get it?
  • Erik: A friend. He recommended, your bank most highly.
  • Nazi Guy: I see. Do you know our terms, sir?
  • Erik: Yes. And you should know mine. This is what remains of my people.
  • Nazi Guy: Melted from their possessions. Torn from their teeth.
  • Erik: This is blood money. And you're going to help me find the bastards responsible for it. (Clicking tongue)
  • Nazi Guy: (Grunts)
  • Erik: Don't touch that alarm. I want Schmidt. Klaus Schmidt. Where is he?
  • Nazi Guy: Our clients don't provide addresses. We're not...
  • Erik: Not that sort of bank?
  • Nazi Guy: (Gasps)
  • Erik: Metal fillings, eh? Not gold? Worried someone might steal them?
  • Nazi Guy: Argentina! Schmidt is in Argentina! Villa Gesell! Please! (Groaning) (Panting)
  • Erik: Thank you. I would love to kill you. So mark my words. If you warn anyone I'm coming... ...I will find you.
  • Man (Sighs): Another day at the office.
  • Woman: Is that Colonel Hendry?
  • Man: The NATO guy?
  • Woman: Yeah.
  • Man: Yes, it is. 'Cause that's three Mob bosses, the Italian ambassador and the CEO of Lockhead.
  • Woman: They can't all be Communists. This Hellfire Club, it's got to be something else.
  • Man: (Chuckles) Do you see that? Hello, girls. Wow. Very, nice. What... what are you doing?
  • Woman: Using some equipment the CIA didn't give me. Stay put.
  • Emma Frost: Colonel Hendry?
  • Bob: Yes, ma'am.
  • Emma Frost: Emma Frost. Sebastion Shaw's associate.
  • Bob: And where is Mr. Shaw?
  • Emma Frost: We're having a party, and here's the entertainment. Come with me.
  • Men: (Hollering and whistling)
  • Guy: Hello, beautiful. How are you?
  • Man: Hey, baby. You want to find a quiet place?
  • Woman: I'm so sorry. I've been booked by Colonel Hendry. Excuse me.
  • Shaw: Are you sure we can't get you a refill, Bob?
  • Bob: No.
  • Shaw: So I hear you blocked the proposal to position Jupiter missiles in Turkey. I expext you'll reconsider.
  • Bob: We've had this conversation. You put our nukes in Turkey or anywhere that close to Russia, and you're looking at war. Nuclear war.
  • Shaw: I don't ask for favors, Colonel. I express my expectations. So let me say it again: I expect... you'll reconsider.
  • Bob: The only thing I will reconsider is having another glass of that delicious champagne. What the hell did you out in my drink? (Groans)
  • Woman: (Gasps)
  • Emma Frost (echoing): You're thinking of running, hiding. We'd find you, Hendry. There's not a fortress in the world that could keep us out.
  • Shaw: Magnificent, isn't she, Bob? Genetic mutation. The evolution of the human genome. Where's Azazel? Ah. We don't want the colonel to be late.
  • Azazel: Comrade.
  • General: Missiles in Turkey send a very clear message. We ever decide to fire them, the Russian early warning system won't even have time to kick in.
  • Senator: This better be important, MacTaggert. Whoa, whoa, whoa. Slow down. You smoking them funny cigarettes?
  • Woman: People don't disappear. Colonel Hendry was there. He was there, McCone, in the Hellfire Club.
  • Senator: Colonel Hendry?
  • Colonel Hendry: I agree with you, General. I've reconsidered my position and I now believe we should put Jupiter missiles in Turkey.
  • Senator: Colonel Hendry is here. So unless he magically traveled 3, 000 miles in the last ten minutes, listen to me, I suggest that you stop wasting my time.
  • Guy: Looks like Hendry wants to start World War III.
  • Senator: I got bigger things to deal with right now, MacTaggert.
  • Woman: Sir, I... God.
  • Man: Have you lost your mind? So, well, now what?
  • Woman: We find an expert on genetic mutation.
  • Man: Professor of Genetics, Charles Francis Xavier.
  • Raven: So, how does it feel to be a professor?
  • Charles: Oh, don't call me that. You don't get to be called professor until you actually have a teaching position.
  • Raven: I know, but it suits you.
  • 'Charles: Oh, don't say that. Do say "Let's go have a drink," though.
  • Raven: Let's go havea drink.
  • Charles: Wonderful.
  • Erik: Afternoon, gentlemen. Hot out there. Beer, please. German beer.
  • Man: Of course.
  • Guy: Yes, it's Bitburger. You like it? (Laughs)
  • Erik: The best.
  • Guy: What brings you to Argentina? The climate. I'm a pig farmer.
  • Erik: (Laughs)
  • [meets the two German Nazis at a bar Villa Gesell, Argentina]
  • Guy: Tailor. Since I was a boy. My father made the finest suits in Dusseldorf.
  • Erik: My parents were from Dusseldorf. What was their name? They didn't have a name. It was taken away from them... by pig farmers... ...and tailors. [reading the inscription written on the knife that he's just taken from the 1st German] Blood and honor. Which would you care to shed first?
  • Guy: We were under orders.
  • Erik: Blood then. [he stabs the knife into the Germans hand]
  • Guy: (Screams)
  • [after he's killed the barman and the 2nd German using his powers]
  • Man: Freeze, asshole.
  • Tailor: Come on, shoot.
  • Guy: (Screams) Who... what are you?
  • Erik: Let's just say I'm Frankenstein's monster. [he gets up and walks over to look at the photo of Shaw mounted on the wall] And I'm looking for my creator. [using his power he gets the gun from the dead barman, turns and shoots the 1st German]
  • Crowd (Chanting): Drink! Drink! Drink! Drink! Drink! Drink! Drink! Drink! Drink! Drink! Drink! Drink! Drink! Drink! Drink! Drink! (Cheering)
  • Charles: Yeah!
  • All: (Cheering)
  • Charles: (Laughs)
  • Raven: (Laughs) Oh, I'm so proud of you.
  • Charles: Thank you. I need another drink. And you need another cola. (Clears throat)
  • Woman: Congratulations, Professor.
  • Charles: Thank you very much. It's-It's much harder than it looks, actually.
  • Woman: No, on your presentation.
  • Charles: Oh, you were at my presentation. How nice of you. Thank you very much.
  • Moira: Moira MacTaggert.
  • Charles: Charles Xavier.
  • Moira: Do you have a minute?
  • Charles: For a pretty little bean with a mutated MCR-one gone, I have five. I say MCR-one, you would say auburn hair. It's a mutation. It's a very groovy mutation. Mutation, right, took us from single-called organisms to the dominant form of...
  • Moira: You know what? The routine may go over great with the co-eds, but I-I'm here on business.
  • Charles: What?
  • Moira: I really need your help.
  • Charles: All right.
  • Moira: he kind of mutations that you were talking about in your thesis-- I need to know if they may have already happened. In people alive today. [Charles reads her mind seeing the mutants she's seen] Professor? I think we should just talk when you're sober. Do you have any time tomorrow?
  • Charles: Something tells me you already know the answer to your question. This is very important to me, and if I can help you, I will do my utmost.
  • Moira: Thank you.
  • Shaw: Still drinking champagne, Bob?
  • Bob: I will pass.
  • Shaw: Okay, well, so much for the pleasantries. I was wondering... who you told about our little arrangement.
  • Bob: No one.
  • Emma Frost: He's telling the truth.
  • Shaw: Good. Well, I guess we're done here. Let's wrap things up, shall we?
  • Bob: Oh, I know better than to trust you. Now, you let me walk out of here with my money or I will pull this pin and we all die.
  • Shaw: Go ahead. Pull it.
  • Bob: I'll do it, I swear to God.
  • Shaw: But I will.
  • [as he watches Shaw absorb the energy from the bomb]
  • Bob: You're on of them?
  • Shaw: Very asttute of you, Colonel Hendry. You want to guess what I can do? I've got the power to absorb energy-- keeps me young. That's the boring part. The fun stuff is what I can do with it once I've got it. [he touches Hendry and sets him on fire]
  • Charles: The advent of the nuclear age may have accelerated the mutation process. Individuals with extraordinary abilities may already be among us. Thank you very much.
  • Senator: MacTaggert, you really think that some crackpot scientist is gonna make me believe in. Sparkly dames and vanishing men? You just brought yourself a one-way ticket back to the typing pool. This meeting is over.
  • [Moira gets up]
  • Charles: Uh, please sit down, Agent MacTaggert. I didn't really expect you to believe me, given that all you could think about during my presentation was what sort of pie they were serving in the commissary. It's apple pecan. I haven;t been entirely honest with you, love, Im sorry. You see, one of the many spectacular things my mutation allows me to do is that I can read your mind.
  • Agent Stryker: I've seen this before in a magic show. Are you gonna ask us to think of a number between one and ten now?
  • Charles: (Chuckles) No, Agent Stryker. Although, OI could ask you about your son, William, who you were thinking about, which is very nice. But I think I'd rather ask you about the Jupiter missiles America re currently placing in Turkey.
  • Senator: He's a goddamn spy. You brought a goddamned spy into this facility!
  • Moira: I did not.
  • All: (Clamoring)
  • Charles: How's that for a magic trick?
  • Man in Black: Best I've ever seen.
  • Senator: I want them out of here. And locked down until I can figure out what to do.
  • Man in Black: My facility is off-site. I'll take 'em.
  • Moira: I can't believe this. You think the director of the CIA would have a little more composure. We should be going after Shaw right now, but instead he's up three worring about the wrong mutants. What are we gonna do, Levene? Levene? Levene, what's wrong with you?
  • Charles: Absolutely nothing. I've just frozen him for a moment 'cause I'd like to talk to you. It's good, isn't it? I'm as interested in this Sebastian Shaw as you are. And if you still want my help, meet me on the third floor of the parking garage.
  • Man in Black: I've always known that there were people like you out there. I've been the laughingstock of this agency for years, but I knew it. You're gonna love my facility.
  • Charles: That's gonna have to wait.
  • Man in Black: Why?
  • Charles: Agent MacTaggert has a lead on Sebastion Shaw, and if we don't move now, apparently, we're gonna lose him.
  • Man in Black: What?!
  • Raven: Not only can he read minds, he can communicate with them as well.
  • [Moira pulls up towards them in her car and Raven gets in]
  • Charles: Moira and I have just had a lovely conversation.
  • Moira: Yes, we did.
  • Man in Black: That is incredible!
  • Charles: (Laughs)
  • Man in Black: But... I-I cannot take you anywhere else without permission from upstairs.
  • Charles: Would you like to see one more magic trick?
  • Man in Black: Okay.
  • Charles: [using his power] Get in the car.
  • Man in Black: Good idea.
  • Erik: Herr Doktor.
  • Shaw: (Speaks German) Little Erik Lehnnsherr.
  • Emma Frost: He's here to kill you.
  • Erik: (Groans)
  • Shaw: What kind of greeting is that?
  • Erik: (Groans)
  • Shaw: ...after all three years? Emma... (Clicking tongue) We don't harm our own kind. Ah! Now it's a party.
  • Man (On Megaphone): This is the U.S. Coast Guard. Do not attempt to move your vessel. Stay where you are.
  • Emma Frost: They have a telepath.
  • [as Emma Frost stops him using his powers]
  • Charles: I've lost Shaw. I've lo-- I've lost Shaw. Th-There's something blocking me. This has never happened to me before. I think there's someone like me on that ship.
  • Moira: Like you?
  • Charles: Uh, I'm sorry, a telepath. This is incredible. I could actually feel her inside my head. I'm very sorry, but I don't think I'm gonna be much help to you tonight. you're on your own. Oh, my God.
  • Moira: Jesus.
  • Man in Black: Get inside.
  • Charles: Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop.
  • Moira: (Panting) Charles? Are you okay?
  • Charles: There's someone else out there. There.
  • Shaw: Time to go.
  • Erik: (Grunts) (Metal groaning)
  • Charles: Let go! You have to let it go! You got to hep him. You got to put someone in the water to help him. Let it go! You have to let it go! [as he jumps into the sea he speaks to Erik with his mind trying to stop him from killing Shaw] You can't. You'll drown. You have to let go. I know what this means to you, but you're going to die. Please, Erik, calm your mind.
  • Erik: (Gasping) Get off me! Get off me!
  • Charles: Calm down. Just breathe. We're here!
  • [after Charles has stopped Erik from trying to kill Shaw]
  • Erik: Who are you?
  • Charles: MY name's Charles Xavier.
  • Erik: You were in my head. How did you do it?
  • Charles: You have your tricks, I have mine. I'm like you. Just calm your mind.
  • Erik: (Panting) I thought I was alone.
  • Charles: You're not alone. Erik, you're not alone.
  • Man in Black: Welcome to my facility. My mission has been to investigate the application of paranormal powers in military defense.
  • Erik: Or offense.
  • Man in Black: This guy Shaw, Schmidt, whatever you want to call him-- he's working with the Russians. We might need your help to stop him.
  • Charles: Marvelous. So we are to be the CIA's new mutant division, yes?
  • Man in Black: Something like that.
  • Hank: It's, uh, supersonic. The most advanced plane ever built. You should see it in real life. It's incredible.
  • Man in Black: Hank, these are the special new recruits I was telling you about. [to the others] This is Hank McCoy, one of our talented young researchers.
  • Charles: How wonderful. Another mutant already here. [he goes to shake Hanks hand] Why didn't you say?
  • Man in Black: Say what?
  • Charles: Because you don't know. [turning to Hank]
  • Hank: I am so, so terribly sorry.
  • Man in Black: Hank?
  • Hank: You didn't ask, so I didn't tell.
  • Raven: So, your mutation is what? You're super smart?
  • Charles: I'll say. Hank here graduated Harvard at the age of 15.
  • Hank: I wish that all it was.
  • Charles: You're among friends now, Hank. You can show off. [Hank takes off his shoes and sock to reveal the mutation on his feet] (Chucking) Splendid.
  • Hank: I'm sorry.
  • Charles: Yup, you... (Laughter)
  • Hank: Ta-da!
  • Raven: You're amazing.
  • Hank: Really?
  • (Gromyko speaking Russian on TV)
  • Newsman: "The presence of U.S. missiles in Turkey represents an unprecedented threat to the people of the Soviet Union, " warned Russian Foreign Minister Gromyko earlier today. But he was quick to insist the Russians would not be the first to initiate any military action.
  • Shaw: Yeah, we'll fox that as soon as we get to Russia.
  • Emma Frost: Unless the CIA find us first.
  • Shaw: I'll take care of them, too.
  • Emma Frost: IF that telepath gets inside your head, he won't be as much fin as I am.
  • Shaw: Already in hand, my love. [he gets up and goes to open a box and takes out a metal looking helmet] The Russians... ...made me this. [he puts on the helmet] So, what am I thinking?*[Emma tries to read his mind but the metal helmet stops her getting access]
  • Emma Frost: I don't know.
  • Shaw: (Chuckles) I was thinking that you are the most exquisite thing I've ever seen in my life. And that this needs ice. [pointing to his glass] Fetch me some. There's a good girl.
  • Hank: I-I promised myself I'd find a cure, ever since I was a little boy. You have no idea what I'd give to feel...
  • [at the same time]
  • Raven & Hank: Normal. [the both smile] (Chuckle)
  • Raven: Charles has never understood. He's different, but he's never had to hide. Hank, this serum that you're making, it doesn't affect abilities, right? Just appearance? Normalizes it.
  • Hank: Yeah.
  • Raven: Do you think it would work on me?
  • Hank: Well, I-I can look into it, if you'd like. I mean, it's the least I can do after asking you to come down here with such a weird request.
  • Raven: (Chuckles) Well, I have to admit, usually when guys ask me out, they're not after my blood.
  • Hank: Uh, s-sorry. I-I didn't intend to be forward. I was just-- I was excited. You know, uh, the-the nature of your mutation. If any genes hold the key to changing appearance, i-it's yours.
  • Raven: Hank, you weren't being forward. That's kind of what I meant.
  • Hank: No. But I'm just sorry if you thought I was.
  • Raven: And I'm sorry that you weren't. [Raven moves closer to Hank] Go ahead. Take the blood.
  • [he injects her with the needle to take blood and she winces from the pain]
  • Hank: Sorry. Did I hurt you?
  • [Raven leans closer to give Hank a kiss and just then Erik walks by]
  • Erik: Kinky. By the way, if I looked like you, I wouldn't change a thing.
  • [Charles catches Erik leaving the CIA facility with Shaw's file]
  • Charles: From what I know about you, I'm surprised you've managed to stay this long.
  • Erik: What do you know about me?
  • Charles: Everything.
  • Erik: Then you know to stay out of my head.
  • [Erik turns to leave]
  • Charles: I'm sorry, Erik, but I've seen what Shaw did to you. I've felt your agony. I can help you.
  • Erik: I don't need your help.
  • Charles: Don't kid yourself; you needed my help last night. It's not just me you're walking away from. Here, you have the chance to be part of something much bigger than yourself. I won't stop you leaving. I could. But I won't. [Charles turns to leave, as he's walking away] *Erik: Shaw's got friends. You could do with some.
  • Man in Black: Hank turned that radar installation into a transmitter. It's designed to amplify brain waves, so it could enhance your telepathic powers, help us find other mutants for our division.
  • Erik: What if they don't want to be found by you? [surprised to see the sudden appearance of Erik]
  • Charles: Erik. You decided to stay.
  • Erik: If a new species is being discovered, it should be by its own kind. Charles and I find the mutants. No suits.
  • Man In Black: First of all, that's my machine out there. Second of all, much more importantly, this is Charles' decision. Charles is fine with the CIA being involved. Isn't that right?
  • Charles: No. I'm sorry, but I'm with Erik. We'll find them alone.
  • Man in Black: What if I say no?
  • Charles: Then, good luck using your installation without me.
  • Hank: I, uh... I call it Cerebro.
  • Charles: You... (Chuckles)
  • Hank: As in the Spanish for "brain."
  • Charles: Yes.
  • Hank: Okay, so, uh, the electrodes connect Charles to the transmitter on the roof. When he picks up a... (Clears throat) mutant, his brain sends a signal through a relay, and then coordinates of their location are printed out here.
  • Raven: You designed this?
  • Hank: Yeah.
  • [as Charles puts the Cerebro on his head]
  • Erik: What an adorable lab rat you make, Charles.
  • Charles: Don't spoil this for me, Erik.
  • Erik: Oh. I've been a lab rat. I know one when I see one.
  • Hank: Okay. Great. [checking the Cerebro on Charles's head] Are you sure we can't shave your head?
  • Charles: Don't touch my hair.
  • Hank: Okay. It's working.
  • Charles: (Chuckles)
  • Angel: For that, daddy-o, you get a private dance. [referring money Erik paid her to perform for them] You cats know it's double for both, right?
  • Charles: Hmm. No, that won't be necessary, although I'm sure it'd be magical...
  • Erik: We were thinking more, we'll show you ours... ...if you show us yours.
  • Angel: Baby, that is not the way it works around here.
  • [Erik snaps his fingers and the ice bucket with the champagne bottle floats towards him]
  • Erik: (Snaps fingers) More tea, vicar?
  • Charles: Don't mind if I do.
  • Angel: My turn.
  • [she unhooks the back of her top to reveal her wings; Erik and Charles look at her in amazement]
  • Charles: How would you like a job where you keep your clothes on?
  • [as Erik and Charles get in the back of his cab]
  • Darwin: Where to, fellas?
  • Erik: Richmond, Virginia, please.
  • Darwin: Right, so you want, uh, airport, the station, what?
  • Charles: No, we were rather hoping you would take us all the way.
  • Darwin: That's a six-hour drive.
  • Erik: That will give us plenty of time to talk. [using his power Erik moves the cab meter]
  • Man: What the hell does the government want with a gut like Alex Summers? Hope you're not planning on putting him with others. First guy I've ever met who actually prefers solitary confinement.
  • Banshee: Crazy, huh?
  • Girl: What?
  • Banshee: Hmm? You like fish. I like fish, too. Maybe we should get a bite sometime and talk about it.
  • Girl: I'd rather go out with the fish.
  • Banshee: These fish?
  • [Eric and Charles walk into a bar and approach Logan as he is smoking a cigar]
  • Erik: Excuse me,. I'm Erik Lehnsherr.
  • Charles: Charles Xavier.
  • Logan: Go fuck yourself.
  • Emma Frost: There's nothing on radar?
  • Azazel: Nothing.
  • Emma Frost: Sonar?
  • Azazel: Nyet.
  • Emma Frost: Then we have a problem.
  • Shaw: Beautiful, isn't it? The reason we exist. We are the children of the atom, my love.
  • Emma Frost: We have a situation. The telepath-- I shouldn't be able to feel him at this distance. It's like his reach is... amplified. They're recruiting.
  • Shaw: You go on to Russia. I'll handle them.
  • Charles: Can't stop thinking about the others out there. All those minds that I touched. I could feel them. Their isolation, their hopes, their ambitions. I tell you, we're at the start of something incredible, Erik. We can help them.
  • Erik: Can we? Identification-- that's how it starts. And ends with being rounded up, experimented on, eliminated.
  • Charles: Not this time. We have common enemies-- Shaw, the Russians. They need us.
  • Erik: For now.
  • Raven: We should think of code names. We're government agents now. We should have secret code names. I want to be called Mystique.
  • Banshee: Damn! I wanted to be called Mystique.
  • Raven: (Chuckles) Well, tough. I called it.
  • [she turns herself into looking like Sean the others shriek with surprise]
  • Darwin: Whoa!
  • Alex: Whoa! And
  • Banshee: I'm way more mysterious than you.
  • [the others clap]
  • Alex (Chuckling): Whoa.
  • Raven: Darwin, what about you?
  • Darwin: Well, uh, Darwin's already a nickname, and, you know, sort of fits. Adapt to survive and all. Check this out.
  • Cassidy: Whoo!
  • Raven: Whoa!
  • All: (Cheering and Laughter)
  • Darwin: Thank you. Thank you.
  • Cassidy: That's incredible.
  • Darwin: What about you?
  • Banshee: I'm going to be... Banshee.
  • Hank: What do you want to be named after a wailing spirit?
  • Banshee: You might want to cover your ears.
  • [they all cover their ears as he does a quick whistle like sound which breaks the window]
  • All: (Laughter)
  • Cassidy: How'd I miss that? Your turn.
  • Angel: My, uh, stage name is Angel.
  • Banshee: (Whistles)
  • Angel: Kind of fits.
  • [she turns and reveals her wings]
  • Raven: You can fly?
  • Angel: Uh-huh. And, um...
  • [she spits a fire ball from her mouth which hits the statues outside]
  • All: (Laughter)
  • Darwin: I'm turned on and disgusted.
  • Angel: [to Hank] What's your name?
  • [Hank is too embarrassed to answer]
  • All: (Laughter)
  • Alex: How about Bigfoot?
  • [the other laugh]
  • Raven: Well, you know what they say about guys with big feet. And, uh, yours are kind of small.
  • Darwin: Okay, now.
  • Banshee: (Laughter)
  • Darwin: Alex, what is your gift? What can you do?
  • Alex: Uh, it's not, um... Um, I just can't do it. I can't do it in here.
  • Darwin: Can you do it out there?
  • Raven: Why don't you just do it out there?
  • Angel: Come on.
  • Cassidy: Come on!
  • Darwin: Alex.
  • All: Alex! Alex! Alex! Alex! Alex! Alex! Alex!
  • Cassidy: All right!
  • Darwin: That's the spirit.
  • Alex: Get down when I tell you."
  • Cassidy (Mocking): "Get down when I tell you."
  • All: (Laughter)
  • Alex: Get back. Get back! Whatever.
  • All: (Laughter)
  • Darwin: Yeah!
  • Angel: Whoa!
  • Senator: We've got intel that Shaw is meeting with the Russian defense chief in Moscow. So go ahead. Say it.
  • Moira: I'm not here to say, "I told you so." You know why I'm here.
  • Senator: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Clearance to bring along your mutants. Fight fire with fire. Makes sense.
  • Guy: Wait! You're okay with this? Sending in a bunch of untrained, unauthorized freaks? 1
  • Man in Black: These freaks... are dedicated, hardworking people.
  • Moira: Plane leaves for Russia in an hour.
  • Erik: I'm telling you, these kids are not ready for Shaw.
  • Charles: I think they're going to surprise you. They're an exceptional bunch of young people.
  • [as they approach the CIA quarters they can hear loud music]
  • Moira: What the hell...?
  • [they see that Raven and the others are drunk, dancing to loud music and showing off their powers]
  • All: (Laughter, conversation and 1960's pop music playing)
  • ("Hippy Hippy Shake" playing)
  • Darwin: Come on! Harder! Harder!
  • Raven: Whoo!
  • [After Moira, Charles and Erik found Raven and the others are dancing to loud music and showing off their powers]
  • Moira: What re you doing? Who destroyed the statue?
  • Hank: It was Alex.
  • Raven: No. Havok. We have to call him Havok. That's his name now. And we were thinking, you should be Professor X, and you should be Magneto. [pointing to Charles and Erik]
  • Erik: [sarcastically] Exceptional. [leaves. Moira follows him]
  • Charles: [to Raven upon seeing the gang fool around] I expect more from you! [leaves]
  • Erik: We got a problem.
  • Charles: What?
  • Moira: I'm so sorry. This wasn't on the map.
  • Charles: No matter what happens, act normally. I'll take care of this, all right? Now, listen to me.
  • Soldier: Where are you going?
  • Nazi Guy: To our farm.
  • Dog: (Growling, barking)
  • Soldier: Open the back.
  • Nazi Guy: As you wish.
  • Charles: Whoa, whoa, Easy, Easy, take it easy, chaps.
  • Guy: Anything back there?
  • Soldier: Nothing. It's empty.
  • Nazi Guy: Everything, okay?
  • Soldier: Yes.
  • Erik: Where's Shaw?
  • Charles: I don't know. But if she's a telepath and I read her, she'll know we're here. Let me try something else.
  • Emma Frost: Shaw sends his apologies, but he's indisposed. He asked me to come in his place. And between you and I, honey, I'm a lot better company.
  • General: (Chuckles) Please come in.
  • Charles: He's not coming. So what now, boss?
  • Moira: Now nothing. We're here for Shaw. Mission aborted.
  • Erik: The hell it is.
  • Moira: Erik...
  • Erik: She's his right-hand woman. That's good enough for me.
  • Moira: The CIA invading the home of a senior Soviet official? Are you crazy?
  • Erik: I'm not CIA.
  • Charles: Erik! [as Charles tries to read her mind she shape shifts into diamond form]
  • Emma Frost: You can stop trying to read my mind, sugar. You're never going to get anything from me while I'm like this. [as she tries to run away Charles and Erik catch her and bind her arms to the bed posts]
  • Erik Lehnsherr: So then you can just tell us. Where's Shaw? [using his powers, Erik straps a piece metal from the bed round her throat]
  • Charles Xavier: Erik! Erik, that's enough! [as Erik tightens the metal round her throat] Erik, that's enough! [suddenly the metal binding shatters her diamond form] [as Charles reads Emma's mind]
  • Sebastian Shaw: [voice over] We are the children of the atom. Radiation gave birth to mutants. What will kill the humans, will only make us stronger.
  • Emma Frost: [to Charles as he finishes reading her mind] Beautiful, isn't it?
  • Charles Xavier: This is worse than we previously imagined. [to Emma] We're taking you with us. CIA will want to question themselves.
  • Emma Frost: I doubt it. They have bigger things to worry about right now. [after he's broken into the CIA quarters where they're holding the mutants]
  • Sebastian Shaw: Where's the telepath?
  • Azazel: Not here.
  • Sebastian Shaw: Too bad. Well, at least I can take this silly thing off. [he takes off the metal helmet] [in the CIA quarters after he's found Raven and the other mutants gathered by Charles and Erik] Good evening. My name's Sebastian Shaw. And I'm not here to hurt you. [to Raven and the other mutants] My friends, there's a revolution coming. When mankind discovers who we are, what we can do, each of us will face a choice. Be enslaved or rise up to rule. Choose freely, but know that if you are not with us, then by definition, you are against us. So, you can stay and fight for the people who hate and fear you. Or you can join me, and love like kings and queens. [he puts out his hand and Angel give her hand to him] [as Angel is walking away with Shaw]
  • Raven: Angel?
  • Alex Summers: Are you kiddin' me?
  • Angel Salvadore: Come on. We don't belong here. And that's nothing to be ashamed of. [she turns and walks away with Shaw]
  • Sean Cassidy: [referring to Alex] He's not going back to prison.
  • Alex Summers: They killed Darwin.
  • Charles Xavier: All the more reason for you to leave. This is over.
  • Raven: Darwin's dead, Charles. And we can't even bury him.
  • Erik Lehnsherr: We can avenge him.
  • Charles Xavier: They're just kids.
  • Erik Lehnsherr: No. They were kids. Shaw has his army. We need ours. [Charles turns to the others]
  • Charles Xavier: We'll have to train. All of us. Yes?
  • Alex Summers: Yeah.
  • Hank McCoy: We can't stay here. Even if they re-opened the department, it's not safe. We've got no where to go.
  • Charles Xavier: Yes we do. [as they're looking at Emma locked in an interrogation room through the two way mirror]
  • William Stryker Sr.: There's a war coming, John.
  • CIA Director McCone: Yes. But a war with who? [Emma hearing everything are saying walks to the mirror, cuts through the glass and replies]
  • Emma Frost: Excellent question. Though I wouldn't call it a war exactly. That suggests both sides stand an equal chance of winning.
  • Sean Cassidy: [as they all looking at Charles's family home] This is yours?
  • 'Charles Xavier: No. It's ours.
  • Erik Lehnsherr: [sarcastically] Honestly Charles, I don't know how you survived. Living in such hardship.
  • Raven: Well, it was a hardship softened by me. [as he's pointing a gun at Erik's head]
  • Charles Xavier: You sure?
  • Erik Lehnsherr: I'm sure.
  • Charles Xavier: Got it. [he goes to pull the trigger and can't] No! No, I can't! I'm sorry. I can't shoot anybody in point blank, let alone my friend.
  • Erik Lehnsherr: Oh, come on! You know I can deflect it. [he takes Charles's hand that's holding the gun and points the gun at his head again] You're always telling me I should push myself.
  • Charles Xavier: If you know you can deflect it, then you're not challenging yourself! Whatever happened to the man who's...who's trying to raise a submarine?
  • Erik Lehnsherr: Well, I can't! Something that big, I...I need the situation, the anger.
  • Charles Xavier: No, the anger is not enough.
  • Erik Lehnsherr: Well, it's gotten the job done all this time.
  • Charles Xavier: It's nearly gotten you killed all this time. [as he's about to start his training]
  • Alex Summers: You know, when I do this bad things tend to happen.
  • Charles Xavier: That's because you can't control it. It controls you. That's why we're here, Alex. That's why we're training. [to Sean as he shatters a large glass by using his power] What you're doing is incredible. You're hitting a pitch with sound waves at the same resolute frequency as the glass. That's why it shattered. But this... [pointing to his larynx] ...is like any other muscle in the body. You can control it. In each of us, two natures are at war.
  • Hank McCoy: Robert Louis Stevenson; Jekyll and Hyde.
  • Charles Xavier: Top marks. The story wasn't about good and evil though, was it Hank? It was about man's animal nature and his struggle to control it, to conform. And it's that struggle which is holding you back.
  • Hank McCoy: No. Jekyll was afraid of what he could be capable of.
  • Charles Xavier: And you are too. [sitting at the edge of a windowsill and wearing Hanks' man made wings] Now remember, scream as hard as you can.
  • Hank McCoy: You need the sound waves to be supersonic. Catch them at the right angle and they should carry you.
  • Sean Cassidy: They should carry me. That's reassuring.
  • Charles Xavier: Good luck. And don't forget to scream. [he crosses himself and falls off the windowsill with a pitiful scream] [to Hank as they get ready for a running race] If you wanna beat me this time, you have to set the beast free. On your marks. Get set. Go! [they set off running with Hank easily overtaking Charles] [after overtaking Charles during their run and finishing a lap round the ground in minutes] Congratulations my friend! Robert Louis Stevenson would have been proud.
  • Alex Summers: Impressive, Hank. Feet like those, all you need is a red nose. Right Bozo?
  • Hank McCoy: I'm done here.
  • Charles Xavier: Thank you, Alex. [whilst Raven is lifting weights, Erik uses his power to lift the barbell high above her head]
  • Erik Lehnsherr: If you're using half your concentration to look normal, then you're only half paying attention to whatever else you're doing. Just pointing out something that could save your life. [the barbells suddenly drop and Raven shape shifts to her natural blue form to catch it] You want society to accept you, but you can't even accept yourself.
  • Hank McCoy: [to Raven as he's looking at her cells through a microscope] You gotta see this. You're genes are extraordinary, you know that? You're cells age at half the rate of a normal female. When you're forty, you'll still have the look of a teenager. You...you have the most incredible cellular structure I've ever seen. [standing on top off a ladder at the edge of a giant satellite dish]
  • Sean Cassidy: You truly believe I'll fly this time?
  • Charles Xavier: Unreservedly.
  • Sean Cassidy: I trust you.
  • Charles Xavier: I'm touched.
  • Sean Cassidy: [referring to Hank] I don't trust him.
  • Charles Xavier: [to Hank] Say nothing.
  • Sean Cassidy: I'm gonna die!
  • Charles Xavier: All right. Look, we're not gonna make you do anything you don't feel comfortable with, all right?
  • Erik Lehnsherr: Here let me help. [Erik pushes Sean off the ladder making Sean to scream and using his powers to fly]
  • Charles Xavier: Erik! [Charles gives Erik a look as Sean is flying around them]
  • Erik Lehnsherr: What? You know you were thinking the same.
  • Charles Xavier: [to Erik] You see that? [pointing to a giant satellite dish a few miles away from them] Try turning it to face us. [Erik puts his hands up and tries using his power to turn the dish but fails] You know, I believe that true focus lies somewhere between rage and serenity. Would you mind if I...? [wiggles his fingers meaning he wants to go into Erik's head] [after Charles has made Erik remember a long forgotten memory of his mother]
  • Erik Lehnsherr: What did you just do to me?
  • Charles Xavier: I accessed the brightest corner of your memory system. It's a very beautiful memory, Erik. Thank you.
  • Erik Lehnsherr: I didn't know I still had that.
  • Charles Xavier: There's so much more to you than you know. Not just pain and anger. There's good to you, I felt it. And when you can access all that, you'll posses a power no one can match. Not even me. So, come on. Try again? [Erik uses his power to move the giant satellite and this time succeeds in turning it] [as they're listening to President Kennedy's speech on TV about the Cuba missile crisis]
  • Erik Lehnsherr: That's where we're gonna find Shaw.
  • Alex Summers: How do you know?
  • Charles Xavier: Two super powers facing off, and he wants to start world war three. He won't leave anything to chance.
  • Erik Lehnsherr: So much for diplomacy. [turning to Raven, Alex. Hank and Sean] I suggest you all get a good nights sleep.
  • Hank McCoy: I have a surprise for you. [he gives her box, she opens it to find to syringes with a green substance in them] I...isolated the right marker in your DNA sample. The serum works like an anti-biotic, attacking the cells that cause our physical mutation. It won't effect our abilities, just our appearance. [Raven silently looks at Hank] You do still wanna do this?
  • Raven: Should we have to hide?
  • Hank McCoy: Well, you all ready do. You're hiding right now, like I have my whole life. I don't wanna feel like a freak all the time. I just wanna look...
  • Raven: ...normal.
  • Hank McCoy: Yeah. [Hank takes one of the syringes ready to inject himself]
  • Raven: Hank, don't! You're beautiful, Hank. Everything you are, you're perfect. Look at all of us? Look at all we've achieved this week? All we will achieve? We are different. But we shouldn't be trying to fit into society. Society should aspire to be more like us. Mutant and proud. [she shape shifts to her natural blue form]
  • Hank McCoy: Well then, it behooves me to tell you, that even if we save the world tomorrow, and mutants are accepted into society, that my feet and your natural blue form will never be deemed beautiful. [she shape shifts back into her human form]
  • Hank McCoy: You look more beautiful now. We need this cure. [he gets up and leaves her room]
  • Charles Xavier: Cuba, Russia, America. Makes no difference. Shaw's declared war on mankind. On all of us. He has to be stopped.
  • Erik Lehnsherr: I'm not gonna stop Shaw. I'm gonna kill him. Do you have it in you to allow that? [Charles doesn't answer] You've known all along why I was here, Charles. But things have changed. What started as a covert mission, tomorrow mankind will know that mutants exist. Shaw, us, they won't differentiate. They'll fear us. And that fear will turn to hatred.
  • Charles Xavier: Not if we stop a war. Not if we can prevent Shaw. Not if we risk our lives doing so.
  • Erik Lehnsherr: Will they do the same for us?
  • Charles Xavier: We have it in us to be the better men.

Erik Lehnsherr: We already are! We're the next stage of human evolution. You said it yourself?

  • Charles Xavier: No! No!
  • Erik Lehnsherr: Are you really so naive, as to think that they won't battle their own extinction? Or is it arrogance?
  • Charles Xavier: I'm sorry?
  • Erik Lehnsherr: After tomorrow, they're gonna turn us. But you're blind to it, because you believe they're all like Moira.
  • Charles Xavier: You believe they're all like Shaw. Listen to me very carefully my friend. Killing Shaw will not bring you peace.
  • Erik Lehnsherr: Peace was never an option. [Erik enters his room to find a naked Raven under the covers in his bed] Well, this is a surprise.
  • Raven: The nice kind?
  • Erik Lehnsherr: Get out, Raven. I wanna go to bed. Maybe in a few years. [Raven shape shifts into looking like a more older version of her human form]
  • Raven: How about now?
  • Erik Lehnsherr: I prefer the real Raven. [Raven shape shifts to her younger human form again] I said the real Raven. [Raven shape shifts into her natural blue form] Perfection.
  • Raven: Could you pass me my robe?
  • Erik Lehnsherr: You don't have to hide. Have you ever looked at a tiger and thought you ought to cover it up?
  • Raven: No. But...
  • Erik Lehnsherr: You're an exquisite creature, Raven. All your life the world's tried to tame you. It's time for you to be free. [he leans forward and kisses her]
  • Raven: You know, sometimes I wonder what my life would have been like if you hadn't found me here that night?
  • Charles Xavier: Sorry, what? You...aahh! [Charles look over at her and sees Raven is naked and in her natural blue form] For God's sake, Raven! Where are your clothes? Put...put...put some clothes on.
  • Raven: That's not what you said when you first saw me. But I guess pets are always cuter when they're little, right?
  • Charles Xavier: Raven, I don't know what's gotten into you lately. I thought you'd be in a good mood. Hank, tells me that he's found the answer to your cosmetic problem. You're gonna tell me what's the matter, or do I have read your mind?
  • Raven: You promised me you'd never do that.
  • Charles Xavier: Until recently, I never had to use my power to know what you were thinking, Raven.
  • Raven: You know Charles, I used to think it was gonna be you and me against the world. But no matter how bad the world gets, you don't want to be against it, do you? You wanna be a part of it. [she gets up and turns and leaves] [looking inside the box Hank had left for them in his lab]
  • Erik Lehnsherr: Hank has been busy.
  • Sean Cassidy: Do we really have to wear these?
  • Charles Xavier: As none of mutated to endure extreme G-force or being riddled by bullets, I suggest we suit up.
  • Raven: Where's Hank?
  • Hank McCoy: I'm here. [they look over and see a shape walking towards them]
  • Charles Xavier: Hank? [as Hank gets closer we see his form has changed to looking like a blue beast]
  • Hank McCoy: It didn't attack the cells. It enhanced them. It didn't work.
  • Raven: Yes it did, Hank. Don't you see? This is who you were meant to be. This is you. No more hiding.
  • Erik Lehnsherr: [referring to Hanks new mutant form] Never looked better, man. [Hank suddenly gets hold of Erik's throat, lifts and strangles him]
  • Charles Xavier: Hank?
  • Hank McCoy: Don't mock me!
  • Charles Xavier: Hank, put him down immediately, please? Hank! Hank! [Hank let's go of Erik]
  • Erik Lehnsherr: I wasn't!
  • Alex Summers: Even I gotta admit, you look pretty bad-ass. I think I got a new name for you. [Hank looks at Alex] Beast.
  • Charles Xavier: [mind reading the Russian crew on board, he can see Azazel on board killing the crew] Crew of the Aral Sea are all dead. Shaw's been there.
  • Charles Xavier: Crew of the Aral Sea are all dead. Shaw's been there.
  • Erik Lehnsherr: He's still here. Somewhere.
  • Charles Xavier: He's set the ship on course for the embargo line.
  • Moira MacTaggert: If that ship crosses the line, our boys are gonna blow it up. And the war begins.
  • Charles Xavier: Unless they're not our boys.
  • Azazel: [to Shaw] The Russians! They have fired on their own ship. They say the comrade lost his mind. The Americans are applauding.
  • Sebastian Shaw: They're here. That telepath is powerful. We're moving to a back-up plan. [he puts on his metal helmet]
  • Moira MacTaggert: That was inspired, Charles.
  • Charles Xavier: Thank you very much. But I still can't locate Shaw.
  • Erik Lehnsherr: He's down there. We need to him, now!
  • Charles Xavier: Hank?
  • Hank McCoy: Is there anything unusual on the radar or scanners?
  • Moira MacTaggert: No. Nothing.
  • Hank McCoy: Well, then he must be under water. And obviously we don't have sonar. [referring to his powers]
  • Sean Cassidy: Yes, we do!
  • Charles Xavier: Yes, we do!
  • Sebastian Shaw: They are ready for war. We just need to strike another match to light the fuse. And we still have the most powerful weapon of all. Me! [to Azazel] Turn the nuclear reactor to one hundred output, and make sure I'm not disturbed. [as Sean has found the location for Shaw]
  • Charles Xavier: You are ready for this?
  • Erik Lehnsherr: Let's find out.
  • Charles Xavier: [speaking into Erik's mind as he tries to use his power to raise Shaw's submarine] Remember, the point between rage and a serenity. [Charles speaks to Erik through his mind as he's trying to find Shaw in his submarine] Erik, you're there. You've reached the void.
  • Erik Lehnsherr: He's not here, Charles. Shaw's not here! He's left the sub.
  • Charles Xavier: What? He's got to be there! He has to be! There's no where else he can be! Keep looking!
  • Erik Lehnsherr: And I'm telling you he's not! There's no one here, Goddammit! [suddenly the wall behind Erik opens to reveal Shaw]
  • Sebastian Shaw: Erik, what a pleasant surprise. [to Erik] May I ask you something? Why are you on their side? [Charles can't read Erik's mind anymore as as Erik enters the void Shaw is in]
  • Charles Xavier: He's gone!
  • Moira MacTaggert: What?
  • Charles Xavier: He's gone into the void! I can't communicate with him there!
  • Sebastian Shaw: Why fight for a doomed race who'll hunt us down as soon as they realize their reign is coming to end? [Erik hits Shaw hard in the face] [to Erik] I'm sorry for what happened in the camps. I truly am. [Shaw hits Erik against the wall making it crack and Charles can read Erik's mind]
  • Charles Xavier: [speaking to Erik through his mind] Erik, whatever you do you can keep doing it. It's starting work. [Erik turns to look at Shaw]
  • Sebastian Shaw: But everything I did, I did for you. To unlock your power. To make you embrace it. [he throws Erik against the wall again and Charles speaks to Erik again through his mind]
  • Charles Xavier: It's working! I'm starting to see him. But I can't yet touch his mind.
  • Sebastian Shaw: You've come a long way from bending gates. I'm so proud of you. [Erik uses his power to move all the metal in the void to trap Shaw] And you're just starting to scratch the surface. Think how much further you could go, together. I don't want to hurt you, Erik. I never did. I wanna help you. This our time. Our age. We are the future of the human race. You and me, son. This world could be ours.
  • Erik Lehnsherr: Everything you did, made me stronger. Made me the weapon I am today. It's the truth. I've known it all along. You are my creator. [he looks at Shaw and uses his power to lift the helmet off Shaw's head] Now, Charles! [Charles penetrates Shaw's mind making him freeze] Sorry, Charles.
  • Charles Xavier: [speaking to Erik through his mind] Erik, please! Be the better man! You have it... [Erik takes Shaw's helmet]
  • Charles Xavier: Erik, please! Be the better man! You have it... [Erik takes Shaw's helmet]
  • Erik Lehnsherr: It's not that I don't trust you.
  • Charles Xavier: Erik, there will be no turning back! [Erik puts Shaw's helmet on his head to stop Charles from entering his mind]
  • Erik Lehnsherr: [to Shaw in his frozen state] If you're in there, I'd like you to know that I agree with every word you said. We are the future. But unfortunately, you killed my mother. [he holds up the coin that Shaw had given to him as a boy, after Shaw had killed his mother for failing to move it with his power] This is what we're going to do. [Charles seeing what Erik is doing through Shaw's mind]
  • Charles Xavier: No! Please, Erik! No!
  • Erik Lehnsherr: I'm going to count to three. And I'm going to move the coin. [he releases the coin] One.
  • Charles Xavier: Please, Erik! [the coin moves closer to Shaw]
  • Erik Lehnsherr: Two. [the coin gets close to Shaw's head] Three. [the coin enters Shaw's head through his forehead, passing through his brain and comes out at the end of his head] [as he's floating Shaw's corpse out of the submarine, he addresses the other mutants] Today our fighting stops! [he floats himself out of the submarine and lands on the ground] Take off your blinders, brothers and sisters. The real enemy is out there. I feel their guns moving in the water. Their metal, targeting us. Americans, Soviets, humans. United in their fear of the unknown. The Neanderthal is running scared, my fellow mutants! [turning to Charles] Go ahead, Charles. Tell me I'm wrong. [as Erik stops the missiles from hitting them and turns the weapons round]
  • Charles Xavier: Erik, you said yourself, we're the better men. This is the time to prove it. There are thousands of men on those ships. Good, honest, innocent men! They're just following orders.
  • Erik Lehnsherr: I've been at the mercy of men just following orders. Never again! [he releases the nuclear weapons and they travel back towards the ships] [holding Charles after he gets shot in the back from one of the shots that Erik was deflecting as Moira was shooting at him] I'm so sorry! [shouting to the other mutants walking towards them] I said back off! [to Moira] You! You did this! [he uses his power to strangle her with the chain of her dog tag]
  • Charles Xavier: Please! She didn't do this, Erik. You did.
  • Erik Lehnsherr: Us turning on each other. It's what they want. I tried to warn you, Charles. I want you by my side. We're brothers, you and I. All of us, together. Protecting each other. We want the same thing.
  • Charles Xavier: My friend, I'm sorry. But we do not. [as Charles lies wounded, Erik turns to the other mutants]
  • Erik Lehnsherr: The society won't accept us. We form our own. The humans have played their hand. Now we get ready to play ours. Who's with me? [he hold out his hand] No more hiding. [Raven walks towards Erik but instead goes to where Charles is lying]
  • Charles Xavier: You...you should go with him. It's what you want.
  • Raven: You promised me you would never read my mind.
  • Charles Xavier: I know. I promised you a great many things, I'm afraid. I'm sorry. [he kisses her hand and she kisses his forehead]
  • Raven: [to Moira] Take care of him. [she joins Erik] [as she's chosen to go with Erik] And Beast? Never forget, mutant and proud!
  • Hank McCoy: Charles, don't move. Okay?
  • Charles Xavier: I won't. Actually, I can...I...I can't feel my legs!
  • Moira MacTaggert: What?
  • Charles Xavier: I can't feel my legs! I can't feel my legs! [as she pushes Charles in his wheelchair]
  • Moira MacTaggert: So, how many students do you think you'll have here, once you get the academy up and running?
  • Charles Xavier: As many as I can manage. Possibly more.
  • Moira MacTaggert: You know, one day the government is gonna realize how lucky they were to have Professor X on their side.
  • Charles Xavier: Oh! Yes, I suppose I am a real professor now, aren't I? Next thing you know, I'll be going bald. We're still on the government's side, Moira. We're still G-men, just without the G.
  • Moira MacTaggert: No. You're your own team, now. It's better. You're...X-Men. [laughing]
  • Charles Xavier: Yes. I like the sound of that. Moira, for us anonymity will be the first line of defense.
  • Moira MacTaggert: I know. They can threaten me all they want, Charles. I'll never tell them where you are. Ever!
  • Charles Xavier: I know you won't. I know. [he leans close and kisses her and uses his power to wipe her mind]
  • CIA Director McCone: All that time wiped clean from your mind. Just gone. He can do that? You don't remember anything?
  • Moira MacTaggert: Sometimes I get fragments. Like...trees, sun light, a kiss.
  • CIA Director McCone: Oh, Jesus! Gentlemen, this is why the CIA is no place for a woman. [last lines; Erik breaks into CIA quarters and enters Emma Frost's holding cell]
  • Erik Lehnsherr: I know we've had our differences.
  • Emma Frost: Where's your telepath friend?
  • Erik Lehnsherr: Gone. Left a bit of a gap in my life, if I'm to be honest. I was rather hoping you would fill it. Join us.
  • Emma Frost: Erik, I believe.
  • Erik Lehnsherr: I prefer, Magneto.
  • [End of X-Men: First Class]
